The third week of every September is National Singles Week or Unmarried and Single Americans Week, depending on which phrasing you prefer. Seriously, the U.S. Census Bureau even recognizes it. Last week, we took a look at unmarried residents en masse, and this week, we’re focusing on where the metro’s unmarried females live.

The interactive map below shows the rate of unmarried females at the county and tract level, and clicking on any area of interest will reveal greater details about the rates of unmarried women, as well as the share of women who have never been married and the percent of married women. From the county-level perspective, we’re seeing the same patterns as we did with unmarried residents overall: Clayton County has the highest rate of unmarried females, followed by DeKalb and Fulton Counties. Once again, Forsyth County has the most married female residents, at 63.1 percent. Barrow County has married-unmarried female parity.

At the tract level, we see the top tracts for high rates of unmarried women are around universities, once again repeating patterns of unmarried residents overall.

The tool below includes layers containing last week’s data as well. Use the layer selector tool in the top right to turn on and off different information of interest, and use the slider bar to see how the two variables compare. You may need to scroll through the legend to see what all the different colors signify. To remove the swipe tool from the map, just click the icon attached to the tool in the upper left of the map.
