On Friday, we took a first look at recent migration trends in the 10-county Metro Atlanta area. We learned that while it may seem people are always on the move, most of us actually are staying in place year to year. The map below depicts the percent of people who have moved– from a different Georgia county–into both the county and tract level. Clicking on any geography of interest will bring up a pop-up box with more details about the percent of residents who lived in the same house a year ago, the percent that moved within the county, the percent that lived outside the state in the prior year, and the percent that moved here from abroad, in addition to those that moved to their location from a different Georgia county.

Use the layer selector tool in the top right to turn on and off different information of interest, and use the slider bar to see how the two variables compare. Depending on your screen size, you may need to scroll through the legend to see what all the different colors signify. To remove the swipe tool from the map, just click the icon attached to the tool in the upper left of the map.
