Since 1990, November has been nationally recognized as Native American Heritage Month. This relatively recent recognition is intended to add visibility and appreciation for the contributions of our Indigenous Peoples before and since the founding of the United States.

While Georgia has three officially recognized tribes—Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee, Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Council, and Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe—a resource developed by Native Land Digital is making the diversity of Indigenous Peoples more visible.

This interactive map enables you to explore hundreds of territories and languages that comprise the complex fabric of cultures and histories.
