Now in its 11th year, the Metro Atlanta Speaks (MAS) survey has contributed to data-driven decision-making in our region by taking the pulse of metro Atlanta residents’ opinions on salient topics. One particularly influential demographic group that this survey seeks opinions from is older adults. In the latest Metro Atlanta Speaks survey, which was conducted in August 2024, seniors had particularly strong opinions on:

  • Housing Affordability – Over half of older adult respondents (51%) said they could not afford to move to another house or apartment in their current neighborhood.
  • Public Transit – Nearly nine in ten of older adult respondents said improved public transit was “very important” (55%) or “somewhat important” (33%) to the region’s future.
  • Information Sources – 65% of older adult respondents said they prefer to get local news and information from television.
