The first official day of Fall was September 23, and this past weekend temperatures dipped into the 40s (°F). But does the newly crisp air mean that the leaves in metro Atlanta will also soon be crunchy themselves? Not quite! According to the forecasters at SmokyMountains.com, the 11-county Atlanta region won’t begin to see its leaves really start to change color until late October. You can then expect Beta-Carotene oranges, red Anthocyanins, and yellow Flavonols to peak in local neighborhood trees as late as November 6.  For more on the science of forecasting Fall foliage, and to contribute to the forecast model with your own autumnal family photos, check out the following link: SmokyMountains.com/fall-foliage-map/
