Last week the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Board approved Walk. Bike. Thrive!, the new regional bicycle-pedestrian plan. The plan introduces a framework for prioritizing regional bike/ped investments and provides tools for local jurisdictions to increase active transportation options.

Walk. Bike. Thrive! envisions the completion of community-scale walking and bicycling networks, a regional-scale trail network, and first- and last-mile connections to regional transit systems. The plan will ensure that funds from ARC’s long-range plan, the Atlanta Region’s Plan, are allocated in a strategic fashion that uses bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure to connect popular destinations.

Check out the plan components and ARC’s action steps below. Stay tuned for more features on Walk.Bike.Thrive and visit ARC’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning page for plan documents.
