We recently featured the new ARC-approved Walk. Bike. Thrive! regional bicycle-pedestrian plan.  To develop a regional, data-driven framework, the plan includes strategies for prioritizing projects and guiding investments for walking and biking.

To evaluate projects in a way that reflects ARC’s policy goals, the prioritization tool identifies “regional focus areas” based on desired safety, mobility, economic development, and equity outcomes.

Regional focus areas are identified by overlaying the map layers used in the Assessment of Regional Travel Patterns phase of the plan development. To reflect the principle that most walking trips are less than a mile, and to be consistent with the “20 minute neighborhood” concept, the focus areas are represented on the map by bubbles with a 1-mile radius.
