An estimated 500,000 people visited Atlanta on Labor Day weekend to attend various holiday events. To see what kind of impact the influx of visitors had on traffic, the maps below compare travel speeds on the Saturday of Labor Day (September 3) to the following Saturday (September 10).

The maps, using INRIX data, show non-interstate roads near downtown and midtown. The variable being mapped is comparative speed, which is traffic speed measured as a percentage of the historic average speed for the specific day/time, for the specific section of roadway. The red colors indicate slower-than-average traffic that was traveling at less than 50% of the historic travel speeds, while the green colors range up to 100%, meaning traffic speed was not different than than the historic average speed.
